General: Why World of Warcraft?
July 24th, 2007 by Ziss · No Comments »

First off I would like to congratulate Blizzard on breaking the 9 million subscription mark for World of Warcraft. In my whole life as a competitive gamer, I have yet to see any game come even close to the caliber World of Warcraft currently stands for. This is one of the only games where you will find audience of all ages and type playing. I have heard so many cross-generation young gamers whose parents also plays, and I seen dozens of couples (married or not) playing together. One interesting fact is that you could walk in to a new job, and after getting known with your co-workers, you would actually find a good number of them also playing World of Warcraft. Read More

General: Complete Rogue Priest 2v2 Arena break down coming soon…
July 24th, 2007 by Ziss · 4 Comments

It’s been a crazy week for me looking for a new apartment to relocate to. If anyone told you otherwise about housing in the better parts of Bay Area besides absolute headache, then they have lied. Anyhow, a couple commentary videos has been added to site as promised, and as things settles down, I will add more videos on a more regular basis.

One of the huge guides I have been working on is a complete walk-through on beating each match up with the Rogue and Priest combo in 2v2 Arena. I will try my best to include commentary videos for each of the matches as well. My skills as commentator are still very limited so any constructive criticism is welcomed with open arms.

On a side note, we have added a couple more members to our team. Expect quality articles and commentary videos from them very soon.

We have finally completed our videos section and are working hard in compiling footages of educational arena matches. We plan on breaking down each game in to strategy that everyone can implement in an effort to raise the skill level of all WoW arena players in general. Stay tuned for other interesting features in the upcoming month.

Article: Closing the Gap, Part 2
July 16th, 2007 by Ziss · 1 Comment »

To understand which method of practice yields the best result, we have to understand the basics of how ‘execution’ works. Often times your execution skills will be called upon. While this game doesn’t require insane amount of accuracy or timing, it is still important to be able to land those spell interruptions and escape spells on demand. The only way to build up your execution skill is via practice.

Humans have a very useful function called muscle memory. After you repeated certain patterns of actions enough times and spent enough hours on them, your muscle will start remembering these actions for you. Once your muscle memory is working, instead of having to tell yourself to press certain button to interrupt a spell, you will just do it automatically upon seeing that spell being casted. This is the very same reason why when people switch their key bindings, it takes quite sometime to get used to them. Not because they have a difficult time pressing the new keys, it is more due to the fact they’re unable to discard their previous muscle memory for their old key bindings. Read More

General: Patch 2.2 notes, most CC’s duration reduced by 2 sec
July 12th, 2007 by Ziss · No Comments »

Notable changes to each area:

General
• Resilience Rating: The reduction to the percent chance to get a critical strike now also reduces the damage dealt by damage over time effects by the same percentage.
- So Resilience will finally affect DOT. Judging from the 400~ Resilience most players have nowadays, this should reduce DOT damage on arena geared players by around 8-12%. Can’t say it’s not a good change.

• Corrected the damage modifier calculation for Resilience when the attacker has bonus critical strike damage.
- Rejoice AP Frost Mages, they used to be hurt the most by it with 50% bonus crit from Frost and another 50% bonus crit from Arcane. Most other classes with bonus to crit damage talents are happy to see this fix too. Although this will increase Warrior’s crit damage even farther…
