With the flawed Blizzard tournament and the implosion of WSVG, WoW’s status as an esport is currently on life-support. Only the upcoming 2v2 CGS tournament (lol warlocks) is keeping competitive WoW PvP from being carried off the field like Trent Green.

But there’s a glimmer of hope for 2008: World Cyber Games (WCG) 2007 just wrapped up and they are looking for suggestions on games for WCG 2008 in Germany. World of Warcraft is on the list of candidates — so head on over there and VOTE!

More season 3 news released late Friday:

They are reusing the same titles from season 1 for season 2 (challenger, rival, duelist, gladiator) and everyone will lose their season 1 titles.

Feral druids will be getting some love in the S3 gladiator set. Stats haven’t been announced, but they are promising to make it more “ferally”.

Season 3 weapons will have “new” art — or not. Re-skinned raid weapons? Can’t say anyone’s surprised. Still waiting for 2.3 to get on the PTR so we can get some real weapons news up in here.

And finally, there will be a different colored Armored Nether Drake reward for the gladiators of season 2. If it’s hot pink, I will buckle down and grind one out to match my pink UI.

I will be periodically highlighting useful addons/tweaks — and as with all material here on this site, it will be specifically oriented to PvP/arenas. Very briefly on addons and PvP: although I don’t mind loading up my UI with addons for PvE, it’s a different matter for PvP. While there are many addons that give very useful information, they can be very harmful in PvP if they take your eyes and brain off the action going on in front of you.

Instead of thinking of addons as something that pops up on your screen to tell you what to do, think of them as tweaks to your UI that can help improve your PvP experience… much like adjusting settings on gaming keyboards or mice.
