Since the release of Arena for World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade, there has always been that idea of evolving into an e-sport competition. Incase you are unfamiliar with the e-sports scene and what this really means, it is basically a name given for both computer and console games that have a high competition level in tournaments play, both online and LAN. Some popular games which have evolved into big e-sports consist of; Counter-Strike, Halo series, Quake DM, Unreal Tournament, Starcraft, Warcraft III, and so on. As you may notice, all of these games are either First Persona Shooters (FPS) or Real Time Strategy (RTS) games. WoW is neither of these formats; rather it is considered a Massive Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game (MMORPG). So the idea of it being a legit e-sports game has been in question. But just like e-sports has evolved over the years, why not evolve even more and add such a series of games. Not to mention, the Arena play of WoW is more fast paced like an FPS game and this section of the game may not be considered an MMORPG, but instead a mix of FPS and a Fighting game. Just a quick question to my readers… Do you guys prefer more 2v2 or 3v3 strategies and videos? So far I have only covered less than the tip of an ice berg worth of 2v2… But if more people are interested in 3v3 I could mix them in as well.

PvP Source has officially opened the (long inactive) forums. Currently, there are four boards to take part in. “Ask Ziss!” which allows for you to get direct answers from the PvP mastermind, “WoW PvP” the board to go to for all PvP related discussion, “WoW General” which hosts all the topics/information that is not pertinent to PvP, and, finally, “General Chat” which is open for any kind of discussion that isn’t World of Warcraft related. We hope that you’ll peruse these boards and take part in the community.

The arena pvp scene has been a great addition to the competitive side of World of Warcraft. It was just what the game needed to refresh itself going into the expansion as far as pvp stands and blizzard has done a very decent job at making it successful. With the arena scene though, there has been many controversies and different topics such as class balance, competitive tournaments, the rating system not being as efficient as it could be and selling arena points? Yes, selling arena points has been picking up a lot of momentum in season 2, and has gotten a lot of top teams attention as an easy and efficient way to make some gold to help fund themselves. With this new scene though, there comes the controversy on whether or not selling arena points is the right thing for teams to do and if it hurts the games economy and community in any way.
