News: More Details on Drinking, Undocumented PvP Changes
February 23rd, 2008 by Blkninja ·

First of all, some more details on drinking in the coming patch:

“There is indeed a change in 2.4 intended to offset some of the mana regen from drinking away from the very beginning of the duration. However, we specifically made sure the water would not change the amount of mana regenerated by players who drink between pulls or during gauntlet runs. You should see little to no difference in the amount of mana yielded if you sit to drink for at least 6 seconds, which most players do.”

So right now you get a tick roughly every two seconds. After the change the first tick will give you nothing, second tick will give you normal tick+66% extra, the third tick normal+33% extra, and then it levels back off after that. So, at the ~6 second mark (or after three ticks) you’ve made as much as you would have before.” -Drysc

It was later clarified that this rule will only apply to PvP:

You haven’t read it wrong, but we’ve decided to have that rule only apply inside arenas. It’s an inconsistency, but one we’re ok with to prevent water from feeling unnecessarily weird everywhere else.” -Kalgan

On another note, some undocumented PvP changes:

Druid
Nurturing Instinct was changed again also and now its just a 20% increase on healing for cat form rather than based off AP.
Nurturing Instinct now increases your healing spells by 50%/100% (Rank 1/2) of your agility instead of your strength.

Mage
Improved Blink
For 2/4 (Rank 1/2) seconds after casting Blink, your chance to be hit by all attacks and spells is reduced by 25%.

Icy Veins
Hastens your spellcasting, increasing spell casting speed by 20% and gives you 100% chance to avoid interruption caused by damage while casting. Lasts 20 seconds.

Shaman
Shamanistic Rage is no longer a magic ability and cannot be purged or mass dispelled in any way.

Warlock
Lifetap
Lifetap now converts 16%(?) of your base health and mana.

Emberstorm
Increases the damage done by your Fire spells by 2%, and reduces the cast time of your Incinerate spell by 2%. Per level for 5 Talent levels.

Our good friends over at SK-Gaming have constructed a very nice “Key to Success” article for the upcoming Blizzard 3v3 tournament. I definitely advise all players who are thinking about competing to hop on over for a quick read.
