News: Battlemasters to Get Some Elbow Room; BlizzCast Q&A Info
January 18th, 2008 by Magog · No Comments »

Just a couple of PvP-related news for the weekend…

For those of you who haven’t figured out how to turn on NPC nameplates (Ctrl-V), you’re in luck:

“In 2.4, the Battlemasters are standing on platforms with collision around them.

We’re also working on a better solution for Wrath of the Lich King.” -Tigole

And, although the first BlizzCast wasn’t exactly what we expected, Blizzard is now taking questions submitted by fans for future episodes — which they promise will be a regular thing. Here’s the info from blue if you want to get involved:

“We’re hoping to devote some time to answering fan-submitted questions in future episodes of BlizzCast, and we want yours. It can be anything related to Blizzard, the company, our games, or the talented people that work here. If you have a burning question you want answered and want to get it to us, please send an email with the subject line “WoW Q&A” to the email address BlizzCast@Blizzard.com.

While we won’t be able to get to every one of them, we want to keep you updated on the game and the aspects that are most important to you.

Thanks for your help and be sure to tune into future BlizzCasts to see if your question was answered!” -Bornakk

General: Rogue’s 2nd PvP Set, Dragonhide
January 16th, 2008 by Ziss · 12 Comments

A good Rogue friend of my has brought to my attention today that Vindicator Dragonhide Bracers might actually be better than Rogue set’s Vindicator Leather Bracers

I laughed at first, then I took a closer look at the stats…

Assuming you gem 16 AP for Dragonhide’s Red slot and 8 AP 4 Crit for Leather’s Yellow slot, you get the following stats:

Stats Armor AP Crit Agi Stam Resil
Dragonhide 236 22 (converted from strength) +16 21 22 29 17+2
Leather 194 26+8 12+4 25 33 15+2
Difference 42 4 5 -3 -4 2

As you can see, you get 42 more Armor, 4 more AP, 5 more Crit and 2 more Resilience at the cost of 3 Agi and 4 Stam. Even if you assume 4 AP and 1 Crit cancels out with 3 Agi (the former is superior), you’re still looking at 42 Armor 4 Crit 2 Resil vs. 4 Stam. I think the choice is clear, Blizzard want Rogues to wear Dragonhide!

All jokes aside, if you haven’t already picked up the Vindicator Leather Bracers, make sure you get the Vindicator Dragonhide Bracers instead (also for those that wants to get the max out of every possible spot, another 12k honor is added to your to-do list).

News: And the Blue Trickles In…
January 16th, 2008 by Magog · 1 Comment »

It’s not just us, but everyone is starting to get restless with the lack of new news:

Neth: It’s been 2 weeks! The holidays are over. The fun has settled. Everyone has been back to work for two weeks now! You said we’d get more 2.4 info/WoTLK info soon…

“The Blizzcast is now out and we are working on compiling information on the Under Development for patch 2.4 to give everyone updates. It takes some time to do, but we will be updating before long. I’m sure what everyone is really waiting for are the actual patch notes, but you’ll have to wait for those to hit the test realm.” -Nethaera

And

When does Season 4 begin?

“We haven’t said as of yet, so no one will be able to answer this for you. Sorry.” -Nethaera

And believe me, the pickings are even more slim when you have to grep the blue posts for “PvP”, “arena” and PvP-related class changes. And the Blizzcast? As soon as the Blizzcast was posted, I searched for those terms in the transcript. When it came up empty, I didn’t even bother with it. I suppose it was silly of us to actually expect some new information from it.

News: Top Matrix Strategies, Agnos’ Secret Arena Notes Revealed
January 15th, 2008 by Ziss · 1 Comment »

Just one day after the release of the Matrix, we have had enough submissions to push the 2v2 browse up to 23 pages. I like to thank everyone that has contributed ranging from spectacular entries like SL Warlock vs. Rogue by Drazzilb, to “down to the point” submission from Maxz’s Mage vs. Warlock: “As mage you die”.

I would like to thank Agnos from Fnatic whose been kind enough to share his notes on their team strategies taken through the past 3v3 tournaments. He has compiled his notes and submitted them into the Matrix for your view pleasure. Here are the links to them or simply use the Browse function for 3v3 Matrix:

Warlock Mage Druid vs. Priest Mage Rogue

Warlock Mage Druid vs Hunter Warlock Druid

Warlock Mage Druid vs Hunter Warlock Priest

Warlock Mage Druid vs Priest Paladin Warrior

Warlock Mage Druid vs Rogue Warrior Priest

Warlock Mage Druid vs Warrior Shaman(Elemental) Paladin

Warlock Mage Druid vs Warrior Shaman(Resto) Paladin

Warlock Mage Druid vs Warrior Hunter Priest

Warlock Mage Druid vs Rogue SPriest Shaman(Elemental)

Warlock Mage Druid vs Rogue SPriest Shaman(Resto)

Warlock Mage Druid vs SPriest Warlock(UA) Shaman(Elemental)

Warlock Mage Druid vs SPriest Warlock(UA) Shaman(Resto)

I have also submitted what I believe to be a breakthrough strategy under (Shadowstep)SRogue SPriest vs Warrior Druid(Resto). It has been tested in the 2000-2100 bracket of 2v2 at BG9(Bloodlust) against half a dozen different teams as well as passing Neilyo’s check on capability; however, Neilyo did point out that specing Shadowstep for 2v2 with a SPriest will hurt your team’s overall performance against other lineups.

On a closing note, I would like to thank everyone so far for their feedback and suggestions on the Matrix system, we are working as fast as possible to implement a filtering system for the browsing function (to allow the display of Rogue & Mage vs x & y, etc…) and will have it up within a couple of days.

News: PvP Source Beta 2 is finally here! Enter the Matrix
January 14th, 2008 by Ziss · 6 Comments

preview of arena matrixImportant: Please hold Shift+Refresh on your browser if something doesn’t look right! (CSS cache)

I’m pleased to announce that after a weekend of work, we are finally taking a giant step forward in to Beta Version 2. We’re constantly trying to improve our layouts so if you have any feedback or suggestions, please voice them on our forums.

Now the exciting stuff, we introduce the addition of our newest tool: Arena Matrix. After over 2 Seasons of Arena play, the most common type of questions I have seen has always been “What do we do with X versus Y?” After developing this tool for a couple of months, it is finally ready for release to the public. On each lineup versus lineup page, you will find many different strategies submitted by users like you. Each strategy page also includes commenting function to allow further discus of that strategy.

The tool utilizes dynamic database that will let everyone to voice their takes on each lineup they expertise at. When looking up World of Warcraft game information, www.wowhead.com does an excellent job in sorting everything in to an organized database for our convenience. I hope that Arena Matrix will become the tool people can rely on in finding the answers to all your lineup questions.

Without further delay, please feel free to click on Matrix on the navbar or here to check out this exciting new tool!

Got a question? Reply to this post or drop me a PM via our forums.
