1337 PvP Personalities: Serennia, Cherekee, Neilyo/Mattyo and… Athen
January 9th, 2008 by Magog ·
SK Gaming recently put up a couple interviews of some notable WoW PvP personalities: Serennia and Cherekee. I’m not usually a fan of these type of celeb features, but these two are particularly well done with many thoughtful questions, answers, and insights. Definitely worth the read.
Love him or hate him, and everyone seems to have an opinion about him. Regardless, Serennia is an (in)famous warrior on BG9 and a dedicated PvPer. Here’s his interview on his thoughts of all things about warriors and arenas.
As for Cherekee, according to SK’s new World Player Ranking — which ranks players by their combined ratings across all three brackets — this Hunter from Talnivarr (EU) is on top with an impressive average of 2319 rating in all brackets. Read his interview for some opinions from a top rated arena player from across the pond.
And for you Rogues (and Mages), there is also a quick Q&A with Neilyo and Mattyo and their thoughts on 2.3.2 changes.
Finally for some fun: Athene, “the best Paladin in the world” (with Merciless Gladiator and a hot girl, who’s to argue), is resurrected and back as the 1337 King. His new project, “Wrath of the 1337 King”, is a full length mockumentary (think “Spinal Tap“) about his life as a “pro” gamer. Check out his site for more details and a trailer/teaser — download the (NSFW) uncensored trailer as YouTube does not go to 11.

SK Gaming this, SK Gaming that. What happened to news, articles, etc? If I want to find out what is happening with SK gaming, I will visit their site.
/disappointed
Sorry, admittedly, there has just been a dearth of PvP news lately. If there is something I’ve missed in my daily routine, feel free to email me at souja9@yahoo.com and I will look into it. Thanks.
When I do link articles, it’s because I feel that there are things in there that the readers would like to be aware of: Warrior tips by Serennia, Neilyo’s post-patch specs, etc. I do read through everything and consider if that’s something the readers of the site would like to know before I decide to do a writeup.
As for articles and other projects, I will let you know that there are some things that we are working on. For details, you’ll have to bug Ziss about them. -Magog

Seriously. They massacred a rogue spec, gave IB to all mages, and you guys can’t find anything to write about?
Hell, you could even write about the new AV. Sorry but there is no point in visiting this site if there is only a worthwhile article once every 2 months.

I’m still waiting for the day breaky posts his sham/war vids. he talked about putting them up over 1.5 months ago. What i dont want is this just to turn into another site with patch notes and linked articles.
if you ask me there are tons of things to discuss between wanted changes for possible shamans in 2.4, decrease of 4dps in 5’s. countermakeups to RPM teams. It feels like there is alot going on this season and havent really gotten anything since season 2 here. I’m still holding out for you guys though, still promise here.

Thanks Magog, that reassures me a bit
I look forward to seeing what you guys have in store, but I just hate seeing the site slowly fall by the wayside.

I think what’s holding me back is whenever I write a rogue article people complains too much rogue info… I’m really trying hard to get other classes going but let’s just say it hasn’t been easy and people like to disappear on their due dates.
That said, I did work out some things today so there’ll be some new front page materials coming soon and the new feature will be ready by tomorrow or day after.

i thought i was a good article
im not sure what kinda site people want pvpsource to be or what ziss and ‘em want their site to be
my guess a little of everything, atm and then theyll find their niche
for the record, i have no problem with a little more rogue stuff

Im on cherekees bg and ive seen him in some bg’s. I had no idea his overall ratings were that high.
As for athene (also from my BG), we need more people like him in WoW. Hes a really skilled player but his whole act is a satirical take on the whole e-sports philosophy and how stupid it is applied to WoW. Most guys with merciless gladiator take themselves far too seriously, but he is genuinely funny and most people just don’t “get” his style of humour.

I’d just like to point out that the world wide top ranked hunter is no longer cherokee and has for some time been Megatf, a US playing dwarf.
And to follow the above sentence, not all (or even many) people agree with the views stated by cherokee on his interview on the SK website, which IMO showed him to lack maturity and intellect, but hey what do i know! While im sure the audience here is much more learned and understanding than the trolls and morons you get from other sites (the official forums) his views i feel will only serve to help the large majority of people crying about hunter pvp imbalance because they got multishot or whatever in av.

What about Cherekee’s interview was not mature? I thought it was very thoughtful, and him saying that Hunters we fine pre-buffs is pro indeed.
Great players find the fault in themselves and get better, bad players find fault in their class/talents/spells/etc. See: Treisk’s massive Hunter QQ immediately following the huge buff patch.
You want immature, go read the lame ‘BG9′ drama at Gameriot & Tich forums. Any evidence of good sportsmanship is few and very far between.
