News: Blue on Hemo; Another (Invite Only) Tournament
December 6th, 2007 by Magog · 7 Comments

Questioned about the latest Hemorrhage tweak, Nethaera sheds some light on the direction they are taking with the talent:

“The intent at this point with this change is to remove some of the front load damage in favor of more group utility. This was the intention of the original Hemorrhage buff and we’re working toward getting it back where we feel it’s going to be the most balanced and beneficial both. That said, we are always on the lookout for constructive feedback on these changes.” -Nethaera

Another WoW Tournament…
Over on Gameriot, the Mob Godfather fills us in on a special 3v3 competition within CGS sponsored by Dell and Blizzard. Prize here is a cool $10k and three of the soon-to-be-released Warcraft Edition laptops from Dell.

Gripe from those I’ve talked to about the tournament? Similar to the recently completed Dreamhack Tourney, only four select teams were invited to compete. Familiar names like (Dell sponsored) Pandemic and MoB give this contest an incestuous, “keeping it in the family” feel. Hey those laptops are swank, and I’m sure there are plenty of people outside of the 4 high-profile sponsored teams that would like a shot at them. Ah well, here’s hoping that future events like Gameriot’s Tourney will allow us to see some fresh faces in the mix.

General: A trip to Tichondrius, so far so queue
December 5th, 2007 by Ziss · 4 Comments

As most of you probably noticed, there has been a lack of strategy articles as of late. Main reason behind this is the starting of S3 and the introduction of patch 2.3 has rendered many strategy from S1 and S2 much less effective or unusable, thus not worth posting. Our Ask Ziss! forums is fortunate to still have some of the most up-to-date information and is a nice source of quality S3 strategy until the top players get more attuned to S3 style.

In an effort to bring everyone more and better commentary videos, me and Breaky have decided to transfer to BG9 (Bloodlust) and picked the all so popular Tichondrius server. He is still under the name Breaky, while I have switched to Zissling.

So far aside from the 670+ server, 12 mins 2v2, and 7 mins 3v3 queues, not much have changed. We’re trying to recruit some popular classes to play with in an attempt to get quality footage recorded to use as commentary videos; since most of our S2 footages have long expired in value.

On another note, a face-lift of our video section is almost complete, I hope to have it ready by end of today or early tomorrow. Soon as this is completed, we will start working on our “ultimate arena strategy” tool.

Thank you all for sticking around and I promise things will just get better. :)

News: Pandemic Dreamhack Champs
December 1st, 2007 by Magog · 8 Comments

In a thrilling series that wrapped up the WoW competition at Dreamhack 2007, Team Pandemic beat MoB TurtleForce to capture the title. Coming back from the lower bracket due to an earlier loss, Pandemic had to win two best-of-five series over the upper bracket champs. With highly contested matches — both of the series were won 3-2 — featuring many tactical (some would say experimental) class switching between matches, some have called the grand finals the best yet on the competition stage.

Along with news that Gameriot has secured a tournament license from Blizzard, it looks like WoW’s ambitions as an eSport still has legs.

2007 Dreamhack WoW Prize Standings
1. Pandemic ($45,000)
2. MoB TurtleForce ($22,500)
3. MoB TurtlePower ($7500)
