Armory Up-to-date, Last Night’s Beatdown Revealed

After a few weeks of struggle from Blizzard, Armory is finally functional again with all the Season 2 teams removed. I was of course interested in checking out the team that took our points last night, Boolak from Ner’zhul.
The advantage of the Twin Glaives was much bigger than I have predicted. Aside from having access to all the best DPS gear in the off slots and a pair of much higher DPS weapon, he was able to convert the Arena points normally spent on weapons (like normal pvpers do) and invested them in to armor instead. With 4 out of 5 Season 3 Armor fully socketed with BT gems, unbuffed - he’s clocking at 11000+ HP, 405 Resilience, 1940 AP, 27.85 Crit (without Malice), 93 Hit Rating and 846 (300 from trinket proc) Armor Penetration + Executioner (I seriously felt I was NOT prepared after seeing all this lol). His spec? 0/20/41. Where Shadow Step lacked in sustained DPS, he made up via going 20 in Combat, where Shadow Step lacked burst, he made up with the best PvE gear + best PvP gear. When he unloads from 110 Energy to 0, my life goes down almost as fast. With all the mobility of AR/Prep (I refuse to call it HARP), plus the addition of Shadow Step, mobility doesn’t get any better (I suppose if he’s gnome then…).
Quickly checking his partner for reasons why he wasn’t dying to our rushdown, I was again amused by the 1977 Healing and 752 Spell Damage. He is specced 35/0/26 (lack of Feral Charge ‘might’ hurt him), most likely to nuke down Warrior Druid teams. With 215 MP5, who needs to spec Resto? With the added survivability of Battlemaster’s Perseverance, it was very hard to take him down aside from game 1, where we caught them off guard.
Perhaps it was too early to dismiss the viability of Shadow Step. Although the thought of 0/20/41 has came across my mind before, I didn’t believe it could be a viable choice until now. Hopefully we won’t be limited to playing with Druids as Shadow Step (although I wouldn’t mind Rogue/Warlock/Hybrid-Druid in 3s), I will be doing some PTR testing to find out.

His spec currently shows as 20/0/41 did you make a typo or did he just respec? What did he have in combat?
December 20th, 2007 at 5:56 pm
Hmm he must have just respeced. It was basically exactly what you would take going 41/20/0 as Mutilate.
Must be trying to beat a Druid or Paladin team, he picked up 5/5 Vile Poison…

I don’t think the viability of Shs should be questioned as much as it is. Especially with the buffs of the upcoming patch. Hopefully the buffs of the talent will help make it more useful without gear quite as good as his.

and how many rogues can get the gear that rogue has? thats right, not even 0.01%.
Ziss: The major advantage is the points he saved on weapons spent on armor instead. Give it a couple month and pvp Rogues won’t be as much behind (hopefully).

Are those stats even right? I don’t see how anybody could have that high in each without sacrificing in the others. Especially 1940 ap? wtf? I’ve never seen a rogue in pvp gear (comparable to the defensive stats that he has) with more than 1400-1500. Well I suppose he has the % agi and ap talents I guess, but it’s still crazy. He’s like 5% higher crit than I expected without malice as well.
Ziss: Taken straight from his armory.

As AR/prep (5/5 deadliness version) with full Vindicator and full Season 3 gear + weapons gemmed and enchanted with AP gems (24 ap run speed meta) and ring enchants, you can reach ~1820 attack power. This is with no pve gear at all.
December 20th, 2007 at 7:16 pm
Maybe so. His ap/hit/crit (combined) will still overall be higher in comparison, enough to make a difference.

its interesting. deep was one of the best feral druids in arena. he respecced resto and than balance/resto hybrid. now he went back to full resto (skilling 5/5 natures focus instead of improved regrowth and ooc instead of the last point in emp. rejuvenation).
thew rogue’s equip is just amasing and the fact, that he is not an undead is even mor einteresting ^^

The thing is, if he respecs, it’s not like his gear is going to change. So, if he went with a more damaging spec (like combat swords), wouldn’t he be ripping through people even faster?
I also don’t understand why he isn’t using 2 pc slayer. If he has the warglaves, he has to have some tier 6 right?
December 21st, 2007 at 3:29 pm
It would have been much easier to CC him if he was combat swords and I would most likely be able to get an opening Sap on him as well. As Shadow Step, even after getting him kited at 30+ yards, he still managed to catch up multiple times.

he could be 0/0/0 with twin blades and kill most ppl who cares if he had an off spec hes obviously a skilled player in pve/pvp id say no shame needed he represents a paltry number of exceptionally geared rogues out there

I think as x/x/41 we need excellent gear to bring enough dps to do well.
My testing on the european ptr´s was not good cause of realmcrashs every 15 minutes but with
max.pvp-gear it can be the way to go for some of us but realy not the one spec some of us are looking for.
We need Shadowstep at its current form trainable,
Mutilate(or full Combat)-Shadowstep was not nearly as brutal as Harp, it makes us half as mobile as war´s are since TBC and it has no point in pve, every think woulkd be ok and no bosse getting slayed by uberrogues^^

great so it’s ok that all of our spe’cs after the next patch will be equally crappy, all you have to do is go out and get the best gear a rogue can aquire and you’ll be fine.
I’d hate to say it, but way to go captain obvious” with this thread.
This guy could make any spec work with that gear.
I really hope your not saying the rogue class is fine because maybe .1% of rogues can get this gear w/ these stats?
December 23rd, 2007 at 11:32 pm
Truekilla, or shinta or w/e his name is now, has the best druid partner I’ve ever played.
Deep is absolutely fantastic. WTB.
December 24th, 2007 at 1:48 am
@ 14, I’m pretty sure he was saying that rogues with that gear are not just fine, but more like op. I mean, 47% in the duration of cs is to 47% in 4 seconds. That’s retarded.
So more like…that rogue = op, rest (ie normal gear like full merc and merc weps) = fine.
December 24th, 2007 at 9:54 am
@16 - OP, gezus get your head out of your … In order to even get those weapons he would have had to Spend how many hours farming BT?
How many hours are you spending in BT?
—–
Hell I say well done to the guy in mixing and matching, with the new shadow step changes coming in kiting this little rogue around is just not going to be worth it.
I hope to see more rogues like this, it just goes to show you can make subtle work with a lot of effort and time.
December 24th, 2007 at 12:31 pm
I didn’t mean op like “zomg he needs nerf.”
Either way, there is no relevance with me saying he’s op and how many hours he farms BT. He could spend his life in BT and still be op.
