News: PTR 2.3.2 Surprises
November 22nd, 2007 by Magog · 15 Comments

Quick note for some important class info: the first update to Patch 2.3 was put up earlier tonight, 2.3.2, and not without a few surprises. Most notably trainable Ice Block and a new talent for mages, and some buffage to all of the shaman elemental shields. Keep in mind that this is just a mini-patch, so it won’t take long to go live.

Read on for the PvP related notes. More updates on the changes to come…

News: The GCD Problem, Stoneform and Shadowfiends
November 20th, 2007 by Magog · 10 Comments

Slow week of news as Blizzard still hammering down all the rough edges of this latest patch. Take a look at the list of known issues that have been reported for the 2.3 patch.

GCD Issues Being Worked On
Most annoying of which is the new GCD. You may have encountered it on abilities without GCD that you spam. It can now get hung up and return false “You are not in range” and “That ability is not ready yet” messages. It took 3195 posts, and Blizzard has finally said they are working on it and want to have it ready for the next update to 2.3.

Article: 2v2 Arena: Rogue & Shaman, Part 1???
November 19th, 2007 by Breaky · 25 Comments

Patch 2.3 has been out for a week now, and players have seen the impact certain changes are making in the Arena scene. From Hunter changes of Aim Shot and Arcane Shot, to the hemo change for Rogues (which has raised a lot of controversy among many). There was one big change I know I was looking forward to however, and I am sure many other healers were, the addition of spell damage to healing gear. Theories were brought up of how much of an effect it actually would have in arena play, ranging from “it wouldn’t be great at all because without the spell damage talents it won’t matter”, to “classes such as Shamans could spec Elemental and just wear Restoration gear”. This weekend however, I put the theories to test, playing a restoration Shaman in a 2v2 makeup paired with a Rogue. Pre 2.3 this lineup was not popular for several reasons, however now I have experienced several scenarios to take advantage of the patch changes. Read More

Article: Winning Arena Formula, just add Hunter?
November 16th, 2007 by Treisk · 68 Comments

Scorpid, man's best friend?Greetings, folks. This is the PvPSource debut of Treisk, 70 Troll Hunter @ Illidan. Since most of you don’t know me by name (yet), I decided to throw out an introduction as to who I am before making a post where I come off knowing what I’m talking about. Since most players aren’t savants of the Hunter class, you wouldn’t know if I was right or not without a bit of background information, so let’s get started.

My WoW-Journalistic debut was earlier this year with Minti/Dahis’s Shadow-Gaming. Some of you might know my name from there, or from seeing me around on the WoW Hunter forums, campaigning for Hunter buffs/fixes/whathaveyou. A good portion of the Hunter community has come together this year in support of my series of threads on Hunter issues in Arenas, which, to date, has received over 4000 replies between the Official General, Suggestion, and Hunter forums.

A lot of the Hunter community, in that sense, will vouch for me being a strong voice of the Hunter community, especially after reviewing my resume. Having broken 2300+ in all three brackets as a Hunter isn’t something to scoff at in their Season 2 state. That said; let’s move on to our topic.

Hunters in 2.3 - You’ve read the patch notes. You’ve fought them in BG’s. You’ve probably been really frustrated by them… And you’ve probably taken hundreds of points from them… Read More

In a post this morning, Drysc announced that Season 3 will be delayed one week due to the Thanksgiving holidays. Season 3 will now begin after maintenance the week after on November 27. Sounds like a good call. More time to farm honor, eat turkey and do some Black Friday shopping.
