2.3 PTR: DR for Silence/Interrupts Reverted
November 5th, 2007 by Magog ·
The big PvP news over the weekend was the little blurb in the latest PTR patch notes that put slience and interrupts on diminishing returns — where testing on the PTR showed that after 3 silences/interrupts on a player, that player would be immune for 15 seconds.
Well, the change didn’t make it through the weekend:
After further discussion about the change in patch 2.3 which adds diminishing returns to silencing effects, we’ve decided to revert the change. Though we do feel that being chain school locked is a problem and plan to address it at some point in the future, we weren’t comfortable with the amount of testing this particular change received. -Eyonix
If you’re wondering if the retraction affects interrupts as well, Nethaera says:
This includes the entirety of the patch note that said : “Silence and Interrupt effects now have diminishing returns when used on PvP targets.” It no longer applies. I hope that clears it up a little for you. -Nethaera

Blizzard had made the wrong choice in even considering the introduction of immunity or diminishing returns toward silence effects; I’m happy to see that they saw the light in this, but I will also be the first to admit that it is an issue that soon needs an answer found for it.
I can’t really say what would be the best way to address being chain-lockdown from being silenced in any form or fashion, but, they need to figure out something.

A good idea would be a drop down menu at the top, with each class, and a link to thier gears =] Arena gear, normal PvP gear, or something… What are people interested in > Pew Pew
