Hi, my name is Neil, yo whats up?
November 2nd, 2007 by Neilyo ·
Hey guys, this is Neilyo.
I am pretty sure some of you already know me from my videos, if you don’t, I play a Rogue on Battlegroup 9(Bloodlust), and the highest ratings I have achieved are: 2v2 – 2407,
3v3 – 2509, and 5v5 – 2496. Before I talk about why I am here, I want to give a short introduction on myself.
![]()
My real name is Neil, I live in California, Orange County and I am currently doing my Freshmen year in college. The first game I played was Starcraft but quickly switched over to Counter-Strike. I am as good on WoW as I am on CS, the biggest difference is that in WoW you are tightly restricted to your class for how good you can be. Meaning you can play your class to it’s fullest extent and do it without using your full skill potential and once you learn to play your class to the full extent there isn’t much more you can do to improve; making me seem better at CS. In CS, a skilled player can kill 5 pros in a 5v5 match, where one is rewarded for skill more and can always find room to improve and get better.
The summer after my Junior year in high school, I started playing WoW. My first character was a Rogue that I leveled to 40, then when my friends rerolled on a new server I made a Rogue again wanting to get it to 60. This was on Ursin and I was playing Alliance. All I really did was PvE at first up to C’Thun pre-Naxx, but I had always loved dueling and finding the best way to fight X class X spec with X spec. Eventually, our PvE guild broke up so we ended up rerolling Horde on Lethon and I decided this time around I would only PvP because I pretty much had enough of PvE. I grinded to rank 6 or 7 before transferring to Dark Iron, I then grinded to rank 13 while making my first 5 videos there. I also achieved rank 1 in both 2v2 and 3v3 in this Battlegroup and obtained Gladiator in 2v2 with Mattyo (Frost Mage) with 2309 rating, playing 30/0/31 daggers. It was my goal to play Prep spec and get Gladiator because in my opinion, Prep is the most fun and hardest Rogue spec to play; the added utility also allowed for more creativity. After getting Gladiator with 30/0/31, I knew I wouldn’t be able to 3v3 with a healer with this spec if I wanted to do well. I then specced Mutilate, not because I thought it was the strongest; I knew Combat Maces was stronger overall by quite a bit, but Mutilate was just way more fun and took more skill. It was with Mutilate that I got to 2407 in 2v2 with a Warlock, 2509 at the highest in 3v3 with a Lock and Druid, and 2496 at the highest in 5v5 on a 4 DPS double UA-Lock Druid healer team. At the time of my 8th video according to Ming (I did no research on this myself); I was the highest rated Arena Rogue in the world (not using the most effective spec). Now that we will be competing in the Gameriot Tournament I will play whatever I feel to be the strongest spec. I would rather play AR Hemo over standard Combat Maces (which I would use 20/41 with 4 Improved Poisons) because like I said before, Prep is more fun than no Prep with the added utility and creativity.
With all this being said, I hope now everyone have an idea about who I am, where I started and how I got to where I am right now. As for why I am here on pvpsource.com, all I can say is that me and Ziss will be planning some exciting upcoming contents for pvpsource.com, I won’t be giving away what that will be right now, but I can guarantee you it will be worth looking forward to.

I too once thought certain rogue specs where more skilled them others… but after I played them all in end game PVP, I realized that they were all the same, except that some are more handicapped then others.
Having to deal more with positional attacks doesn’t make you more skilled, just makes it harder. Put the same level of play into a combat mace spec, you might do pretty good. In a way I always thought PVP combat was actually harder in some situations due to your limitations with stealth and after your first wave of cooldowns.

IDK if the question is too personal, but how old are you? I’m 16 and also in my freshman year of college, but I find that most people under 20 tend to suck. Just wondering.

i wrecked you on the PTR. remember that undead female warrior?
izzop from azgalor

“…you can play your class to it’s fullest extent and do it without using your full skill potential..:”
Thats exactly why I rerolled from Mage to Rogue. Blizzard changed the Mage from being the class with the greatest impact from the Player to pretty much spammung instants only - not feeding my potential at all.

I agree this site has had great information. However, I would really like to see a couple of writers who play classes like Warlocks, Paladins, and Warriors. Priests and rogues are great, but there are some other classes whose perspective it would be nice to get.
Ziss: Trust me, we’re working on it…
November 2nd, 2007 at 9:51 am
meh since i play a rogue just keep sticking with rogues
November 2nd, 2007 at 10:05 am

November 2nd, 2007 at 10:25 am
Welcome, Neilyo.
Glad to see another CS player converted
I played lots of CS back in the day on a good number of top teams. Always preferred TFC, though! Too bad the ol’ mom and pop wouldn’t let me go to Texas when the team was sponsored for an all-expense paid trip for a tournament. Something about being fourteen years old and bad grades…
November 2nd, 2007 at 10:38 am
Christ I hope this doesnt turn this site into a “hate the famous people” e-peen competition
Ziss: Oh rest assured they’ll have to go through my dead body before something like that happens
November 2nd, 2007 at 11:32 am
Hey man, good to see you here.
I really enjoy watching your video and I’m really looking forward to what you’ll bring to pvp source

DRUIDS ARE JUST WARRIORS THAT CAN HEAL. I REFUSE TO DUEL THEM.
November 2nd, 2007 at 12:54 pm
im just saying neyilo is good but hes not the greatest rogue in the world.
Ziss: No one made the claim that he is, he was simply the highest ‘rated’ Rogue in terms of Arena; as for the title “greatest in the world”, that’s determined by individual’s perception.
November 2nd, 2007 at 1:12 pm
;oo Nicee! I .
November 2nd, 2007 at 1:16 pm
we do have articles for shamans… but yes, we are trying our best to get articles from other perspectives and classes, trust me!
Anyways, as for now, welcome Neiloyo to the team!

Hey Neilyo, who were you on Ursin? I used to play alliance there right before Naxx went live. Tenebris was the only alliance guild close to C’thun iirc but I don’t think they ever killed him. Retrospect did though.

November 3rd, 2007 at 7:32 pm
Ooooo sounds great!
November 4th, 2007 at 10:15 am
I already believe Xom from my server “al’akir” had higher ratings than neilyo when ming produced that article. I could be wrong though.
November 4th, 2007 at 2:56 pm
My highest avg rating was 2471. After that I stopped playing 2v2, and started selling points/glad for 3v3, and we havent played 5s seriously since then, double lock druid healer isnt as amazing as it may look, a pally healer and a ele sham would most likely be a lot stronger. Now im 2430 in 2v2, started our real 3v3 team 2 days ago and its 2476 and are gonna play some 5s soon so hopefully I can break that PR, im sure we will get above our old highest in 3’s (2509) and we already did in 2’s, just a matter of 5s.
November 4th, 2007 at 4:30 pm
Rouges are OP… Warlocks are OP.. Ive come to the conclusion that, WoW is OP and owns life, and the buff you get from sittin in yoru chair all day far out weighs natural sun light! Plus 100 stamina - 50 str - 50 agility.. or so i heard!
November 4th, 2007 at 9:00 pm
hahaha glad to see a good rogue that plays CS too, not that im an amazing rogue, but i did use to be a very hardcore counterstrike player
November 4th, 2007 at 11:24 pm
Neilyo I hear that you lose games to two healer one dps teams and then post on forums about it, raging like the young kid you are.
http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/thread.html?topicId=2720404887&sid=1
I’m surprised PVP Source recruited you.
November 5th, 2007 at 1:55 am
heh, we have all had our times where we get pissed off from one part of the game or another.
As far as being suprised on why we picked him up, dont think it should be that suprising. Our site is about informing other pvper’s techniques and strategies we have learned through a lot of experience, and Neilyo has plenty of experience and is willing to share his knowledge.
November 5th, 2007 at 7:54 am
Always enjoyed your videos Neilyo, and I like to see you beating up on Ming’s character. Keep up the good work.
November 5th, 2007 at 3:03 pm
Yes neilyo is good (up fr ^^)
