In the wake of WSVG’s collapse, Gameriot is hoping to fill the gap with it’s own community run tournament. Unlike the WSVG, this cross-battlegroup tournament will be held online with player-enforced rules within the current game.

To qualify, your team must be rated 2100 or higher in your battlegroup. A maximum of four players are allowed per team. Complete rules at the end of this post.

Sign ups end October 29^th. The start of the tournament will follow shortly afterwards — the exact date TBA.

Tournament Rules

1. Each match will be played as a best of seven series.
2. Each bracket will use a single elimination format.
3. Shadow resistance gear is forbidden.
4. Players may respec talents and/or swap characters every two rounds.
5. All mods are legal.
6. Seeds for each battlegroup tournament will be based on the team’s rating at the time of registration.
7. Each battlegroup will have their own, separate tournament in the first stage. The number of teams that advance from each battlegroup tournament will be based upon how many eligible teams are participating in each.
8. Each battlegroup tournament will be played out to find a champion and to determine seedings for the playoff tournament. This second stage will determine the overall winner using patch 2.3 on the public test realm.
9. Official brackets will be posted here on Gameriot.com.
10. All schedules will be final.
11. All disputes must be sent to the tournament admins via e-mail (wowtourney@gameriot.com).
12. Screenshots of each round will be required from the winning team of every match and must be sent to the tournament admins via e-mail (wowtourney@gameriot.com).

This ruleset is not final and any rules, or decisions made based on them, are open to interpretation and judgment from the tournament admins. Participants are welcome to suggest alterations or request clarification by responding to this post, but it is their responsibility to follow the above rules and any future updates made to them.

   I like this idea. Are there prizes like the blizzard competition for HW/GM back in the day?

   Magog: I heard mention of a small monetary prize ($1000?). Nothing much, but it’s a start.
