General: Why World of Warcraft?
July 24th, 2007 by Ziss ·

First off I would like to congratulate Blizzard on breaking the 9 million subscription mark for World of Warcraft. In my whole life as a competitive gamer, I have yet to see any game come even close to the caliber World of Warcraft currently stands for. This is one of the only games where you will find audience of all ages and type playing. I have heard so many cross-generation young gamers whose parents also plays, and I seen dozens of couples (married or not) playing together. One interesting fact is that you could walk in to a new job, and after getting known with your co-workers, you would actually find a good number of them also playing World of Warcraft.

So how did Blizzard achieve this incredible standing? Simple, the game appeals to audience of all types. From boys in their early teens, to girls in college, all the way past professionals past mid 40s, World of Warcraft held an unique aspect that captivated them. Being a game that can be picked up and enjoyed at the very basic level, all the way to world wide competitions. This game really draws in more people than the small amount of sore and bitter quitters it turns off. As long as Blizzard continues to push quality content patches/expansions, while putting loads of money in events and advertisement, it would be quite difficult for the game’s population to decline anytime soon.
