Notable changes to each area:
General
• Resilience Rating: The reduction to the percent chance to get a critical strike now also reduces the damage dealt by damage over time effects by the same percentage.
- So Resilience will finally affect DOT. Judging from the 400~ Resilience most players have nowadays, this should reduce DOT damage on arena geared players by around 8-12%. Can’t say it’s not a good change.
• Corrected the damage modifier calculation for Resilience when the attacker has bonus critical strike damage.
- Rejoice AP Frost Mages, they used to be hurt the most by it with 50% bonus crit from Frost and another 50% bonus crit from Arcane. Most other classes with bonus to crit damage talents are happy to see this fix too. Although this will increase Warrior’s crit damage even farther…
Druids
• Hibernate and Entangling Roots duration against PvP targets has been reduced to 10 seconds.
- As stated in the title, most forms of CC has been reduced by 2 seconds.
Hunters
• Aspect of the Viper: This ability has received a slight redesign. The amount of mana regained will increase as the Hunter’s percentage of mana remaining decreases. At about 60% mana, it is equivalent to the previous version of Aspect of the Viper. Below that margin, it is better (up to twice as much mana as the old version); while above that margin, it will be less effective. The mana regained never drops below 10% of intellect every 5 sec. or goes above 50% of intellect every 5 sec.
- This is excellent news for Hunters. From the sound of it, Aspect of the Viper will add 50% Intellect into MP/5 when the Hunter is completely dry. With the properly geared arena Hunters running about 250 Intellect, you can expect 125MP/5 bonus when the Hunter is near empty on mana. Duel-wield with 2x 30 Intellect enchant might be the new ticket for Hunter’s choice of melee weapons.
• Freezing Trap and Scare Beast duration against PvP targets has been reduced to 10 seconds.
- As stated in the title, most forms of CC has been reduced by 2 seconds.
Mages
• Polymorph duration against PvP targets has been reduced to 10 seconds.
- As stated in the title, most forms of CC has been reduced by 2 seconds. However this does hurt classes that were heavily dependent on spamming CC to be effective more than others. Mages being the #1 on that list.
Paladins
• Blessing of Freedom cooldown increased to 25 seconds.
- This is a pretty huge change, coupled with the reduction in effectiveness on Guardian’s Favor from 6 extra seconds to 4. Freedom can be kept up 14 out of 25 seconds instead of the previous 16 out of 20 seconds. Reducing the amount of time Freedom can be active on a given target from 80% to 56%.
• Blessing of Protection: This spell can no longer be cast on others when stunned. It can only be cast on self (to break the stun) under those circumstances.
- This was more or less a bug to begin with. Fixing it does hurt a little bit, but it was called for.
• Blessing of Sacrifice now has a 1-minute cooldown.
- Previously, it was impossible to CC the Paladin without Dispelling or Purging the Blessing of Sacrafice, now it’s quite manageable with it being up for only 50% of the cooldown. Can’t say it was called for but Blizzard is really hitting them hard with the nerf bat this patch.
• Guardian’s Favor now increases duration of Blessing of Freedom by 2/4 seconds.
- Refer to Blessing of Freedom notes.
Priests
• Lightwell: The heals from this ability are now increased by the bonus healing effects on the Priest.
- Known as the LoLwell, this terrible talent finally got a buff. The effectiveness of this buff however, are still remain to be seen.
• Mass Dispel: The portion of this spell that removes immunity effects (Blessing of Protection, Ice Block, etc.), now has a chance to be resisted, and will display correctly to the combat log. It will no longer cause Rogues and Druids in Cat Form to lose stealth.
- More or less a bug fix, although 30% of resisting Mass Dispel from Paladin’s Divine Shield could be a match breaker.
• Mind Control duration against PvP targets has been reduced to 10 seconds.
- As stated in the title, most forms of CC has been reduced by 2 seconds.
• Pain Suppression: This talent will now reduce the chance for any buff on the Priest to be dispelled, rather than reduce the chance of dispelling buffs cast while it is active.
- This buff is quite interesting. Stacked with Silent Resolve talent for a total of 85% Dispel/Purge resist, Priests might just have what they need to survive assist train. However the trade off is Blessed Resilience, so the choice is still up to personal preferences.
Rogues
• Blind duration reduced to 8 seconds, cooldown reduced to 1 minute, Blinding Powder is no longer required to use.
- This is a huge buff for the Rogue class, Blind is now same as Hammer of Justice’s cooldown length without talent. Prior to this, landing a good Blind made the difference between winning and losing a game. Now it is much less so with the reduced duration and reduced cooldown. This actually encourages more sloppy play than skillful usage, as the margin of error is increased. It is still a huge buff, but only time will tell if it was in the right direction. (Apparently this change has been removed for now.)
• Elusiveness now reduces the cooldown of Blind by 8/15 seconds.
- Of course you can no longer reduce the cooldown as much as it used to, but it is still a 25% reduction in total cooldown time and well worth it if you’re this far down the Subtlety tree already.
• Sap duration against PvP targets has been reduced to 10 seconds.
- As stated in the title, most forms of CC has been reduced by 2 seconds.
Shaman
• Focused Mind (Restoration) now reduces duration of Silence/Interrupt mechanics by 10/20/30%.
- This is just something Blizzard missed on last patch. A nerf, due to the fact you can get reduction on Silence/Interrupt duration from Equipment.
Warlocks
• Banish, Seduction, Enslave Demon and Fear duration against PvP targets has been reduced to 10 seconds.
- As stated in the title, most forms of CC has been reduced by 2 seconds.
Warriors
• Bloodrage should no longer initiate combat, though it will prevent rage decay for the duration.
• Bloodrage: Warriors no longer remain in combat indefinitely if this ability is active while zoning.
- I for one are sick of Warriors starting the fight with 60+ rage abusing this ability. About time they fixed it.
Items
- A lot of AQ enchanting recipes are now obtainable easily, also the mats required for them have been changed to Expansion mats. Good change, better sell those Nexus Crystals while you still can.
• Merciless Gladiator’s Barrier: This spell damage shield has been added to the arena vendor.
• Merciless Gladiator’s Redoubt: This healing shield has been added to the arena vendor.
- Great news for Shamans and Paladins.
- Small changes for varies Gladiator and Honor items, nothing serious.
Bug Fixes
• Pets will no longer chase players that Vanish.
- Rogues finally won’t get unstealthed right after Vanish against classes with pets. Small bug fixes like these are always welcomed with open arms.
